Changning

Chang'ning District is a western district of Shanghai, bordering Jing‘an District to the east, Minhang District to the southwest, Xuhui District to the southeast, and Putuo District on the north. The region is not regarded as an important financial or commercial centre but it is an important transportation hub for Shanghai. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, located in the western part of the district, is headquarters to a number of local airlines – most notably China Eastern Airlines. The airport, the fifth largest in China– in terms of cargo- is an important terminus for local flights and is the main economic stalwart of the district. The Zhongshan Park railway station, which acts as the transfer station for lines 2, 3 and 4 of the metro, is the other major transportation gateway located in Changning. Furthermore four of the elevated roads, Inner Ring Elevated Rd., Yan’an Elevated Rd., Middle Ring Rd. and Outer Ring Rd. pass through the district. The national level development zone, Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone is also located in Changning District and the Gubei sub district houses the largest concentration of foreign high-standard residential and commercial offices comprehensive area in Shanghai. The district also possesses a number of commercial property projects, such as the Multi-media Life Plaza, Cloud Nine Shopping Mall, and the Raffles at Zhongshan Park, which is under construction now.
