Nanshan
Nanshan District is situated in the southwestern corner of Shenzhen city and has a population of just over 1 million. It only borders two other districts with Futian to the east and Baoan District to the northwest. Over recent years the region has developed a thriving tourism industry this is can be contributed to the number of sightseeing locations that have been developed such as, the Window of the World theme park, Happy Valley Shenzhen, OCT East entertainment and resort complex. The majority of this development has occurred since the late 1970s and the rural characteristics that once marked Nanshan are found only in a few villages. The district is currently connected to the rest of Shenzhen by four of the six metro lines operated by Shenzhen metro: Lines 1,2,5 and 11. The district also houses a number of major railway stations – Shekou West, Mawan, Shenzehn West and Xili – these operate routes to different parts of the city and country. The district also offers a ferry service to Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau from the Shekou Passenger Terminal, as well as cross boundary coaches to and from Hong Kong from Shenzhen Bay port.
