Shangcheng

The Shangcheng District lies right next to the famous West Lake and Qiantang River, the ancient capital city of the Southern Song Dynasty Lin’an also lies within it. Shangcheng District is one of the traditional core urban district of Hangzhou. With a total area of 18.17 square kilometer, Shangcheng District is the smallest district with the highest unit of GDP in urban areas in Zhejiang province. Shangcheng District is famous for tourism and leisure activities. There are four distinctive blocks in this area, which are Lakeside tourism and commerce blocks, Qinghefang historical and cultural blocks, Nanshan Road arts and leisure cultural blocks and Jiefang Road characteristic commercial blocks.
