Tianhe
Tianhe District is one of the eleven districts in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China. The name Tianhe, in Chinese, literally means "a river in the sky", which is also a Chinese name for the Milky Way. It is bordered by Yuexiu District on the west, Baiyun District on the north and Huangpu District on the east. Haizhu District is on its south, though they are separated by the Pearl River.
Tianhe District boasting rapid development, covers 96 square kilometers with a population of over 1110,000. This district is an important business center, thriving with many skyscrapers and shopping malls. The newly developed Zhujiang New Town is a showcase of futuristic urban planning and avant-garde architecture. Zhujiang New Town is on the south of the Sports Center and on the north of the Zhujiang River. It is one of the fastest-developing areas of Guangzhou. Tianhe district serves as a new transportation hub for Guangzhou. Guangzhou East Railway Station, one of the biggest modern railway stations in China, is also located in this district. This station is an immigration check point within the station for Guangdong Through Train passengers travelling to and from Hong Kong. The district also possesses a number of commercial property projects, such as TaiKoo Hui Tower, International Finance Place, Guangzhou International Finance Center, Yuexiu Financial Tower, Guangzhou CTF Finance Center and Central Tower.
Most of the primary and secondary schools in the district are above city level, which means the schools feature high teaching quality. There are also many research institutions and institutions of higher learning collecting in the district, including 27 universities including South China University of Technology, Jinan University, South China Normal University, South China Agricultural University, and Guangzhou University. This district is also reputed as the center of high-tech industry. In recent years, the Tianhe Software Park have embraced rapid development. In addition, real estate enjoys rapid development with many high-grade residence communities spreading in Tianhe District.
